Choosing an eau de toilette or cologne over a perfume is often simply a matter of taste. Although the concentration of Eau de Toilette fragrance is lower than that of perfume, which makes the scent shorter and less intense, Eau de Toilette can also have its advantages, one of which is definitely fresher and lighter shades than the perfume versions. That is why when looking for fresh, invigorating and clean scents, they are usually easier to find in eau de toilette than in perfumes. However, just because we like a fresh scent doesn’t mean we don’t want that scent to linger on our skin for as long as a perfume can. In order for eau de toilette or cologne to last longer, it must be reapplied several times a day. But there is still a secret to its long-term durability. Ready for new dimensions of long-lasting scents?
Do not miss:
Since the eau de toilette is made with a smaller dose of perfume oils, it usually lasts only a few hours. The top notes – the first scent released in the perfume – are dominant, so it is refreshing at first application, but quickly evaporates from the skin due to the alcohol content. Eau de toilette is an excellent type of fragrance for everyday use, as the fragrance notes are less intense; even if you overdo it, the fragrance will dissipate fairly quickly.
If you want your eau de toilette to last and smell longer, you can use a perfumer’s trick to ensure that the scent does not evaporate hours after you spray it. And no, we are not talking about using a large amount, but about applying it to extremely moisturized skin. Experts recommend using a neutral body cream without perfume, and then applying the perfume to the desired area of the skin. In fact, the moisturizer will “lock” the scent on the skin and release it throughout the day. We also recommend applying a little fragrance in the morning, carrying it with you, and applying more later in the day when you can no longer detect the scent (as opposed to the excessive amount you applied during the first spray).
There are many ways to apply perfume or eau de toilette. Focus on the wrists, neck, chest, behind the knees, behind the ears and the inside of the elbows. You can also spray some in your hair (but only after freshly washed hair and from a distance so as not to dry it out).
It is also important to spray the product lightly. Do not rub your wrists together as this can break down the scent and break down the oils. Avoid spraying on clothing or jewelry.
Is perfume a better choice?
Honestly, it’s up to you which one you like better. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. If you’re looking for an affordable everyday option, Eau de Toilette is your best bet. However, if you want something that can last longer or have sensitive skin, this is probably the perfume for you. In the end it all depends on what you are looking for in terms of fragrance, occasion, price and packaging.
